Resume template

An executive resume template that reads the way senior roles are hired.

Serif type, generous margins, summary-first — designed for director, VP, and C-suite candidates where the resume has to project judgment, not just list tasks.

Why this template

Executive hiring is pattern-matching on signal. Recruiters and board members scanning a VP-level resume are looking for: scope of responsibility, business impact in dollars or headcount, and evidence of judgment under pressure. A resume that buries those signals under dense duty-lists reads as mid-level regardless of the title at the top.

The Executive template on onepage.bio is tuned for that audience. A serif face (Times/Georgia) carries the formal register boards expect. A left-aligned name paired with a thin accent rule under the contact row reads as "letterhead" rather than "form." Generous whitespace gives every line room to land — critical when bullets are "Led $140M P&L across 4 BUs" rather than "Worked on various initiatives."

Structure matters as much as style. The Profile section goes first — two or three sentences framing the level and trajectory, not a childhood-dream-to-current-job story. Experience follows with company-and-role bold, dates right-aligned and italic so they don't compete with the impact statements. Selected Projects is a useful slot for board work, advisory roles, or major transformations that don't fit under a single title.

Best for

  • Director, VP, SVP roles
  • C-suite (CEO, CTO, COO, CFO, CMO)
  • Board director / advisory
  • Management consulting partner track

Do

  • Lead with scope: budget, P&L, team size, geographies.
  • Quantify business outcomes, not activities.
  • Profile summary: 2–3 sentences, framed around what you own.
  • Keep to one page — recruiters expect density at this level.

Don't

  • No "Objective" section. Executives don't need objectives.
  • No skill clouds or tag lists. Write the skill into the bullet.
  • No photo unless applying in Europe where it's customary.
  • Don't list every role — last 15 years is plenty; summarize earlier.
